Do NOT use this company. I would NOT recommend. The owner, Jeff, came out and did a free estimate of my yard work. We talked in depth about the work I wanted done. He sent over the estimate and I approved of the work and contract. My main issue with this company is with how they handle estimates. On the day where the bulk amount of work would take place, the owner was present but peered into my dining room window and started banging on them to get me to come outside. He did not use a door.He went over what needed to be done after having previous issues with a work order which I will outline below. There were four workers during my work order. The entire time, only two employees would be working and the other two would just be standing around. This was noticed separately by both sets of neighbors as well.It wasn't until the second day motorized equipment was brought to start the job and it moved efficiently but only two employees would be working at a time.A few weeks later I get a call from the owner, Jeff, and he states that my estimate is going to be "a little over". It was MORE THAN DOUBLE THE PRICE and I was not notified during the work order. The owner states it was due to how many hours the workers were there and the amount of workers that were needed for the job. I had to ask multiple questions on how this work could be billed at such an increase and the owner, Jeff, was unprofessional and spoke in a demeaning tone.I share with everybody the difficulty I had and the issues with the contract. I would not recommend this company. The first issue was when the employee that came out was not given the correct information for the work order. The employee was being paid by the hour and had completed projects not outlined in the estimate or talked about with the owner, Jeff. I had to email the company and then wait for a call from the owner. When talking to the owner, I asked to only be charged for the work outlined in the estimate and the owner spoke in a rude tone with me defending the work that was done. The owner did take the time and cost off of the original issue. However, this should not have been a problem as time was taken to prepare for what work I needed to be done and a contract was signed.I even caught an issue on their contract and they would not honor it as it "wasn't anything they can control".

Final Edit: they came back and removed about 3 1/5 inches of the fill dirt and mixed it up with garden soil. It’s still very thick and hard and holding and retaining water like no tomorrow under the surface and very dry and cracked on the top, the right half has more soil than fill dirt and the left half has a lot more fill dirt than soil so it’s not a very even job but it is still better than it was before. Will probably still have to amend the soil for the next few years.EDIT: the owner did call and try to fix the situation by taking out some of it, and filling it with garden soil. That is very kind of him. Will update with the results! My fiancé hired them to fill a garden bed, they offered a more expensive mushroom compost but we declined (various reasons but one was that they couldn’t tell us what was mainly in it) and asked for regular garden soil. Either my fiancé had used the term topsoil because he isn’t the gardener, and they gave us fill dirt. Which, sure, it’s what he technically asked for by term. But they knew it was for gardening, that’s why the mushroom compost was offered. Not once did someone say “hey, topsoil isn’t for gardening”. Or, he asked for garden soil and they gave us full dirt for some reason. 700$ for 4 yards of topsoil/fill dirt is shocking for 150 sq ft garden bed. They were nice enough, though. We won’t be able to grow anything in this, it’s got way too much clay and the top is too sandy. It’s going to be extremely expensive and time intensive and physically taxing to fix it.

Just have to give a shoutout to my favorite landscaping company...Oakwood Lawn and Landscaping! I felt compelled to write a review after I came home yesterday to our beautiful yard of which had just been mowed! We have used many landscaping companies in the past...the most recent being one of the larger companies in Dayton. We were very unhappy with the lack of communication, inability to have anyone return calls, and the quality of the service. We have been with Oakwood Lawn & Landscaping for many years now, and I will never go back! They use a push mower at our request, and they do a fabulous job! We also use them for spring maintenance, and snow removal. And now during the fall season, they remove all of our leaves instead of blowing them to the sides. The crew is extremely friendly, and the company communication is excellent! This is a company that truly cares about their customers, and I highly recommend them for any of your landscaping needs!
